Save money by choosing a moving date outside of school holidays. Avoid peak seasons: in summer from June to September and in winter during the Christmas holidays.

You can also prepare as much as possible yourself before calling on a professional mover. If you realise that you need to remove or add items to your initial quote, you must contact your sales representative for any quote modifications. Fees may then apply depending on the timing of your move. On the moving day, if you decide not to move certain items, no price adjustment will be made. In accordance with Articles L.133-1 and following of the French Commercial Code, YouStock holds liability insurance to cover risks related to its services and to insure against potential damages. For your moving service, YouStock has taken out financial coverage for damages, breakage, or loss of moved items up to €300 per m³.

You can also insure your belongings at their real value through more comprehensive coverage known as “Ad Valorem” insurance. Your belongings will then be covered up to the amount declared in your statement. The rate is 6% of the total declared amount.

Attached to the quote, the declaration of value determines the overall value of your furniture and sets the terms and limits of compensation. This document is mandatory, just like the consignment note. It is provided by the moving company and must specify:

the total amount of goods transported by the mover

the unit value of goods exceeding the contractual liability limit specified in the quote, i.e. €300.

The consignment note includes the main practical information such as:

  • your contact details as well as those of the company,
  • the volume of goods to be transported,
  • the mode of transport,
  • the validated quote number,
  • the declared value of the goods,
  • the start and end dates of the service.

 

It specifies the equipment to be used, the composition of the team, etc. It also indicates the dates and times of loading and unloading the goods into the moving truck. It certifies that the work has been carried out and allows for recourse in case of breakage or damage to your belongings.
